Arrest: Petit Larceny, False Information to Law Enforcement, Criminal DLS

On March 17, 2023 at approximately 10:07 AM the Wilmington Police Department was notified of a theft from a local business's waiting room in Wilmington. During the investigation police found that an item was stolen from the building. The suspect gave false information to the investigating officer during the investigation in an attempt to hinder the investigation. As a result of the investigation, Carey Florence, age 45, of Whitingham, VT, was charged with Petit Larceny, False Information to Law Enforcement, and Driving with a Criminal Suspended License (Criminal DLS). The stolen item was recovered and returned to the victim. Florence was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court - Windham Criminal Division on April 11, 2023 at 8:30 AM to answer to the charges.

On March 25, 2023 at approximately 10:17 PM, a Wilmington Police Officer stopped a vehicle for speeding on Vermont Route 100 in Whitingham. During the stop, the officer detected signs of impairment and screened the operator who was subsequently arrested for DUI. The operator, Nicholas A. Anderson, age 43, of Whitingham, VT, was processed at the Wilmington Police Department and was released on a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court - Windham Criminal Division on April 11, 2023 to answer to the charge.

 Case # 23WM000724

On March 24, 2023 at approximately 11:04 PM, a Wilmington Police Officer observed a vehicle make a left turn from North Main Street onto East Main Street and fail to use a turn signal. This is a violation of Title 23 V.S.A 1064. The officer conducted a traffic stop on East Main Street. During the stop, the officer detected signs of impairment and screened the operator who was subsequently arrested for DUI. The operator, Gregory A. Plante, age 48, of Littleton, MA, was processed at the Wilmington Police Department and released on a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court - Windham Criminal Division on April 11, 2023 to answer to the charge. 

Arrest: Sexual Assault, Cruelty to a Child, and False Information to Law Enforcement

 Case # 23WM000494

On February 27, 2023, the Wilmington Police Department received a report from the Hinsdale Police Department about possible sexual assaults that had occurred in Wilmington. Wilmington Police Department conducted an investigation and as a result, found that Larry Davis Jr, age 40, of Wilmington, VT, had sexually assaulted a minor on three occasions during 2022. During the investigation Davis provided false statements to Law Enforcement in attempt to obstruct and hinder the investigation. Davis was arrested and processed at the Wilmington Police Department. He was released on a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court - Windham Criminal Division on March 24, 2023 where he was arraigned on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault- Repeated, Aggravated Sexual Assault- Victim under 13 years, and Lewd and Lascivious Conduct with a Child. He was issued conditions of release by the court and released.

 Case # 23WM000700

On March 23, 2023 at approximately 11:43 PM, officers with the Wilmington Police Department responded to a residence for an intoxicated male banging on a door. The male banging on the door was identified as Samuel J. Laroche, age 30, of South Hadley, MA. Laroche was found to be violating court ordered conditions of release from two previous incidents in Wilmington where he had been arrested for domestic assault, disorderly conduct, and violating court ordered conditions of release. Laroche had left the scene prior to police arrival and was arrested the next day. He was charged with Unlawful Mischief, Violation of Conditions of Release, and Stalking. He was released on $1,000.00 bail and flash cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court - Windham Criminal Division to answer to the charges.

On Monday March 13, 2023 at approximately 1:02 AM, officers with the Wilmington Police Department were dispatched to a residence in Wilmington for an intoxicated male causing a disturbance. The male causing the disturbance was identified as Samuel J. Laroche, age 30, of South Hadley, MA. Laroche was found to be violating court ordered conditions of release from a previous incident in Wilmington where he had been arrested for domestic assault. He was arrested and transported to the Wilmington Police Department for processing. Laroche was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Violation of Conditions of Release and was ordered to be released on conditions and a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court - Windham Criminal Division.

Arrest: Criminal DLS & Possession of a Controlled Substance

On March 3, 2023 at approximately 5:18 PM, a Wilmington Police Officer conducted a traffic stop for defective equipment on a vehicle traveling on VT Route 100 in Wilmington, VT. During the stop, the operator was found to have a criminally suspended driver's license. During roadside contact police observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and a subsequent search located Amphetamine, a Schedule IV controlled drug in the vehicle. The operator, Johnathan T. Galaske Jr., age 45, of Whitingham VT, was arrested and processed at the Wilmington Police Department. He was released on a criminal citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court - Windham Criminal Division on March 21, 2023 to answer to the charges.
