Arrest: Arrest on Warrant

On September 19, 2024 at approximately 8:55 AM the Wilmington Police Department arrested Grant Bercik Age: 36 of Dover, VT on an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to appear for charges of aggravated disorderly conduct.  Bercik posted bail on the warrant and was released on a citation to appear in Windham District Court.

On September 11, 2024 at approximately 6:00 PM the Wilmington Police Department responded to a Wilmington residence for a report of a deceased individual.  Upon arrival the Wilmington Police found a deceased 83 year old male at the residence. The Wilmington Police Department and the Vermont Office of the Chief Medical Examiner investigated the death. The investigation determined that the subject had died from natural causes.

            On September 4, 2024 at approximately 10:00 AM the Wilmington Police Department received a report of a man beating a female in vehicle which was in a parking lot of a Wilmington business. Upon arrival Wilmington Police made contact with the victim and through investigation learned that they had been assaulted and restrained.  As a result of the investigation Nicholas Neville Age: 23 of Centerville, MA was arrested and transported to Wilmington Police Department for processing. Neville was processed and ordered released on conditions and a citation.  Neville was charged with two counts of Domestic Assault and one count of unlawful restraint.

            On September 9, 2024 the Wilmington Police Department received a report of a Wilmington resident receiving unwanted communication from an individual from New York. During the investigation Wilmington Police learned that an Andrew M. Jabot Age: 32 of Queensbury, NY had been attempting to communicate with the victim which was in violation of an active abuse prevention order.  An arrest warrant was requested and issued for Jabot for violating an abuse prevention order.

            On September 11, 2024 at approximately 2:30 PM the Wilmington Police Department received a report of a vehicle operating erratically traveling south on Rt 100 North through Dover and that the vehicle’s trunk was open.  A Wilmington Police Officer observed the vehicle traveling through Wilmington Center and made contact with the operator on South Main St.  During contact the officer observed signs of impairment and the operator was screened for impairment.  The operator Ariana Ocana Age: 31 of Newfane, VT was arrested and processed at the Wilmington Police Department. Ocana was released on a citation to appear in Windham District Court on October 1, 2024 to answer for the charge of DUI.

            On September 2, 2024 at approximately 1:10 PM, the Wilmington Police Department received a report of a boat collision on Harriman Reservoir in the area of Ward’s Cove.  Wilmington Police Department responded to scene of the collision where they found that the boat involved had sunk in over 70’ of water.  The operator who was the only occupant of the boat had been picked up by another boat and transported to the shore. Wilmington Police located witnesses to the boat collision at the scene that described the boat as operating erratically and in a careless manner prior to it being driven into the rocks along the shoreline.  During the investigation evidence was found where the boat involved had collided with rocks along the west shore line of the reservoir causing the hull damage which resulted in the boat sinking. The operator, Jonathon Strain Age: 62 of New York, NY was located on the shoreline and during contact with police indicators of impairment were observed.  Strain was screened for operating a boat while impaired and was evaluated by a DRE.  During processing Strain refused to provide a sample of his blood as evidence and a search warrant was requested and issued to take samples of his blood.  Strain was processed at Wilmington Police Department and released on a citation to appear in Windham District Court on October 29, 2024 to answer for the charges of Boating Under the Influence-drugs and Operation of Vessels-Careless and Negligent Operation. The boat involved was a 2009 MB Sports Wakeboarding boat which was recovered by a salvage company utilizing divers and airbags on September 11, 2024 from Harriman Reservoir.
            Wilmington Police was assisted by Fish and Wildlife, Wilmington Fire Department and Deerfield Valley Rescue.

            On September 24, 2024 at approximately 2:30 PM, the Wilmington Police responded to a report of a burglary at a residence in Wilmington, VT. During the investigation police found that numerous items had been stolen from the residence including three firearms.  A neighbor reported seeing a dark colored Chevrolet Pickup at the residence with a possible out of state license plate of VVADER.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Wilmington Police Department at 802-464-8593.
