SUMMARY: Motor Vehicle Collision - Fatal

On March 23, 2024 at approximately 9:45 AM the Wilmington Police Department received a call reporting a single vehicle collision on VT Route 100 North in the area of Wheeler's Farm Field. Deerfield Valley Rescue, Wilmington Fire and Police Departments responded to the scene. The operator of the vehicle, Kevin M Aldrich, age 51, of Wilmington VT was found deceased in the vehicle. There was no other passengers or vehicle involved in the collision. During the investigation Wilmington Police determined that the operator had been traveling north in his 2002 Ford F350 on VT RT 100 North when he failed to maintain his lane of travel and wen toff the west side of the roadway side-swiping a tree before traveling down an embankment. Weather at the time of the collision was snow and freezing rain resulting in snow/ice covered roadways and reduced visibility. Speed was not a factor in the collision.
Wilmington Police Department and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are conducting the investigation to determine cause of death.
